artLens Photography Events
Every year, the Canmore Camera Club participates in artsPeak- the Canmore festival of the arts. We host and organize artLens- a celebration of photography which includes a print contest, workshops, and an exhibition of prints.
The photography contest is designed to encourage photographers at all levels and ages to submit photos. The contest has a local theme each year, and is judges in three ages groups: Grades 1-9, Grades 10-12, and Adult. The workshops are designed to encourage people at all levels, particularly young photogrpahers, to improve their skills by taking a 2 hour workshop with experienced photographers. Topics such as camera choice, how to use the camera controls and functions, and how to compose and shoot better pictures are covered. Workshops are limited to small numbers so each participant can have the maximum leaning opportunity. Beginner workshops are designed to aid newcomers and intermediate workshops to help improve skills the photography may already have developed. At the photography exhibition, club members show off their photography talents with prints in a wide variety of subjects and locations. Many of the prints are for sale, and you have the opportunity to meet and discuss the prints with the photographers. For information about this year's activities, see the items in the menu at the top of the page that says artLens 2011. |
