Take your best shots and enter them into the photo contest My Canmore: Capture your vision of Canmore; share the ordinary and the extraordinary of this mountain town.

Please note there has been a deadline extension to May 16th, all entires received on or before this date are eligible for the contest.

There are four general age categories open to all amateur photographers: Grades 1 to 6, Grades 7 to 9, Grades 10 to 12, Adults.  Entry is FREE to all participants.

Winners and runners up will also receive prizes donated by our sponsors:  Kinsella Art Studio, Venice Gifts, and Cafe Books.There will be one winner and one runner up for each category as selected by a panel of judges,  Kinsella Art Studio will frame the winning photograph and mount the runner up for display during the artsPeak weekend of June 14 & 15, 2008. Contest Rules:

1. There is a maximum of three entries per person, an image can only win once. The maximum number of winning entries per photographer is one.

2. The deadline for entries is Friday, May 16th, 2008.  Entries can be submitted during any of the Canmore Camera Club (CCC) meetings, by email, or snail mail.

3. Formats accepted are slides, colour or black and white prints (minimum 5 x 7, maximum 12 x 8), and digital images on disk or sent by email (JPEG format, minimum final print size 5 x 7, maximum final print size 12 x 8).

If submitting images by e-mail, the following guidelines must be respected: only submit one image per e-mail (if three images are submitted, then three separate e-mails must be sent); Type "artLens" in the subject line of the email, clearly indicate your name, address, telephone number, and the title of the image.

4. Digitally altered images that insert elements or distort subjects or the original composition will not be accepted. Techniques that are part of the chemical processing procedure which are reproducible using digital techniques are acceptable (e.g., colour balance, brightness, contrast, cropping, removing dust etc.)

5. Entrant's name, address and phone number must be on each image, as well as a caption or identification of each photo.

6. Winners that have submitted prints will be required to provide a negative(s) or original JPEG or TIFF files to CCC.

7. Contest is open to all photographers who receive less than 25% of their annual income from their photographs and anyone who has not been directly involved in the planning of this event.

8. Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality, how the image expresses the theme . Decisions of the judges are final.

9. If you want your image returned, you must include a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient Canadian postage (stamps only).  You may also pick up your image at the exhibit and photo display during artsPeak at the Canmore Seniors Centre.

10. Please package your photos securely, as CCC cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage.
