artLens Community Photo Contest Rules

Submission deadline now extended to Friday, May 27th

The theme for this year is Faces of Water in the Bow Valley
There are 3 age categories: Grades 1-9, Grades 10-12, and Adult



There will be one winner and one runner up in each age category as selected by a panel of judges.
Images of the winners and runners up will be printed by The Pro Image; the winning photographs
will be framed and those of the runners up will be mounted by Sunny Raven Gallery
for display during the artsPeak weekend of June 18 & 19, 2009.
Winners and runners up will also receive prizes donated by our other sponsors:
The Camera Store, Venice Gifts, and Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours.

Contest Rules:
1.     Maximum of 3 entries per person

2.     Entries must include (show) some aspect of human participation

3.     Deadline for entries is Friday, May 27 2011. Late entries will not be accepted.

4.     Digital entries may be submitted in JPEG or TIFF formatwith a minimum final print size of 5" x 7", up to a maximum final print   size of 8" x 12" at 300 dpi. If submitting images by email, the following guidelines must be respected: only submit one imgae per email (if 3 images are submitted, then 3 emails must be sent); type "contest submission" in the subject line of the email, and in the text clearly indicate your name, address, telephone number, title of image, and age category. Note that submitted fioles should be sent as an attachment and not imbedded in the body of the email.

5.     Signed model releases are required for any image with identifiable people. Model releases are available from the Canmore Camera Club by emailing the contest submission address. Winners and runners-up must have a signed model release available to submit when requested.

6.     All submissions must have been photographed within the Bow Valley.

7.     Digitally altered images that distort subjects or the original composition, or insert elements into the image will not be accpeted. Techniques that are part of traditional chemical photographic processing and are reproduced as digital techniques are acceptible (e.g. colour balance, brightness, contrast, cropping, dust removal, etc.). 

8.     The contest is open to all photographers who receive less than 25% of their annual income from their photography. Entry to the contest is also limited to people who have not been directly involved with the planning or management of the contest, or connected to the contest sponsors. 

9.     Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality, how well the image expresses the theme, and technical merit. Decisions of the judges are final.
